Adding a Video to the Slider

Greetings Support,

I have purchased the Pro version of the Appointment Theme. I have attempted to create a slide with a video following the instructions on your site. The video does not display on the slider when published.

When I created the post I selected "Video" as the post type and inserted the YouTube link. The video appeared in the post editor. I selected the category I am using for slides. I saved the post. When I went to the home page, a new slide was there with my title but the video did not appear. I tried refreshing. I deleted the post and tried again. No luck.

Please tell me how to make the video appear in my slide.

Sincerely,

Steve Sokol

  • Read my post, Imran. I said I FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS ON YOUR WEB SITE.
  • Sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but I did all sorts of research before posting. I would like some help beyond "read the manual". I know how it is supposed to work. I'm reporting a bug: it does not currently work. I need help from Webriti to fix this.

    Thanks,

    Steve
  • Ok, here's some help. I read the code and it appears that your video detection code is only looking for "youtube.com". Most modern YouTube links are in the form "youtu.be" which your code does not recognize.

I am adding my own filter to fix this, but please make sure you update all of your video player links to support shortened URLS from YouTube.

  • Ok, it took some hacking but I got it to work. It appears that the code the theme is using to embed videos is out of date. Please update it to:

    1) check for https vs http - mixed content does not work
    2) look for any valid youtube URL including shortened URLs (youtu.be)
    3) do not parse the URL provided, simply embed it as it comes from Wordpress

That should fix it. (For the moment I've hard-coded my video into place.)
